ABOUT PROJECT S.T.E.A.L.Strategically Take and Extract to an Alternate Location
Our organization's mission is to mitigate the homeless veteran crisis. We believe one of the main solutions is to build self-sustaining communities. These communities will be similar to housing on base: Protected environment with community resources solely for our veterans and their families. Veterans may have difficulty being civilians. Here is the safe space we hope to provide so many can focus on their mental health while in transition. How we envision our village for our veterans: *Community center that will house over 40 veterans -Intake, Shelter, operational offices for staff and volunteers, and emergency professionals *Stables attached to riding arena/Kennel -We will host equestrian therapy sessions on property along with training for our veterans who feel more connected with horses. A kennel for pets rescued that will become companions for our veterans, and therapy animals trained to help in times of crisis or outreach *Garden and Green house -A different environment for veterans to take a holistic approach to healing by practicing botany, while also providing fresh produce for the village *Dining/Recreational Hall -Dining hall for veterans and volunteers to eat meals, attend group classes/meeting, Recreational area for those that want to unwind and may have visitors, Kitchen and pantry to receive grocery donations that veterans can take with them into their homes when built *Memorial Garden and walkway with reflection pools. -A place of peace where any servicemember/veteran/military family, can honor and remember their loved ones. Engraved bricks and tiles will line these walkways between buildings *Active-Duty Transition House -Military members that are accessed as high risk of homelessness within 90 days of separation will occupy rooms while we assist them filing VA claims and boosting financial fitness. They will help with the village and veterans as wingmen/battle buddies. *Storage Barn -Holds all equipment, house donations, and emergency supplies *Veteran Home -700 sq ft home with one to two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, and living/dining area
